Matteo Bagagli
Research Scientist, seismology
Matteo was recently a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow in Machine Learning applied to seismicity monitoring at geothermal fields, with the project DERISK, at the University of Pisa. His PhD in Seismology at ETH-Zürich (CH), focused on observational seismology and seismic tomography, particularly on consistent seismic phase-picking and investigation of crustal features at different scales. His passion for seismic method development and coding skills enabled him to develop strong expertise in machine learning techniques, signal processing, inverse theory, seismic imaging, and big data analysis.
Passionate about advancing the frontiers of geophysics to create technologies that make a real-world impact, as well as working in multi-ethnic, cross-disciplinary research teams, Matteo is drawn to the Earth Rover Program for its bold and challenging mission.
