Clara Gomez Garcia
Research Scientist
Clara is a seismologist specialising in seismic interferometry and ambient-noise methods for imaging the Earth's interior and monitoring active systems. She completed her PhD at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (Ireland), where she developed an approach to image crustal and upper-mantle seismic interfaces using continuous noise recorded at individual stations.
More recently, she held postdoctoral positions in Ireland and Italy, broadening her research towards marine acoustics and environmental monitoring. Her work has included modelling acoustic wave propagation across complex seafloor environments and monitoring natural and anthropogenic signals recorded with Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) on fibre-optic cables. During her career, she has also participated in diverse field campaigns, from installing seismic node arrays on volcanoes to deploying hydrophones and seismic instruments in the deep ocean.
Committed to making geoscience societally relevant, Clara is particularly motivated by the Earth Rover Program’s mission to translate advanced geophysical methods into tools with direct environmental impact.
