Dr Jun Chew

Electronics Engineer

Zheng Jun Chew is an electronics engineer with over 10 years of research focused on self-powered systems, including energy harvesting, power management circuits and low-power wireless sensor networks. His research primarily aims to solve cabling issues, usually related to costs and installation complexity as well as battery issues, usually related to replacement costs and complexity in low-power systems deployment, especially in remote areas.  Therefore, his research area enables systems such as wireless sensor systems to generate their own power supply using energy from their surroundings, supporting more sustainable deployment or scaling up of sensors for remote monitoring with more frequent data collection capabilities without being inhibited by battery capacity limitations. His research has led to three patents and attracted interest from various industries, including Airbus, Babcock and Network Rail.
