Kevin Davidson

Research scientist/Software engineer

Kevin is a seismologist and PhD candidate at Birkbeck, University of London, working at the intersection of environmental seismology, large scale instrument deployments, and data-intensive analysis. His research uses ambient seismic noise and near-surface imaging to investigate how temperature, soil moisture, and hydrological processes impact the Critical Zone.

Alongside his scientific work, Kevin brings over two decades of industry experience in high-performance computing, systems engineering, and automation. This background enables him to design scalable, reproducible processing pipelines and to handle the significant data volumes generated by modern seismic networks. He is passionate about robust methodological development, open and maintainable research software, and integrating computational geophysics with real-world monitoring applications.
