Dr Mayesse da Silva
Collaborator
Dr. Mayesse da Silva is a senior soil scientist with more than 12 years’ experience conducting research across diverse fields, including soil-landscape modeling, digital soil mapping, soil carbon dynamics, water and land management, and the assessment of soil degradation, erosion, and contaminants. As Senior Soil Scientist and Latin America Focal Point for the Multifunctional Landscapes Research Area at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, she has experience working across Latin America and Caribbean, and East Africa advancing science-based solutions for sustainable land management.
She holds a PhD in Soil Science from a joint program between the Federal University of Lavras (Brazil) and Purdue University (USA) and has published more than 30 scientific papers. Her work integrates geospatial analysis, environmental modeling, and applied soil science to better understand how soils shape—and are shaped by—multifunctional landscapes. Passionate about translating science into action, she collaborates with several partners to enhance soil health, resilience, and ecosystem services. Mayesse is supporting the evaluation of Earth Rover Program in Colombia.
