Mary Dusabe

Research Scientist

Mary is a physicist and instrumentation engineer with an MSc specialisation in Electronics and Instrumentation and a BSc in Control and Instrumentation, both from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Her work spans sensor systems, scientific data pipelines, and applied physics across research and operational environments. She previously worked with the Kenya Space Agency, where she operated GNSS receiver networks, worked with embedded systems and managed space weather monitoring sensors. She also designed and developed an end-to-end real-time monitoring system for space weather monitoring and forecasting in Kenya, building automated data workflows for real-time analysis and designing pipelines that integrate sensor outputs with analytical and machine learning platforms.

At the Asili Sensa Project, and working closely with the Earth Rover Program's Kenya research hub at CER-K, Mary is now applying her physics and electronics background in a new direction, contributing to the project's core focus on sensor design and development for soil health monitoring in Kenya. She is carrying the same instrumentation and real-time monitoring approach she used in space weather into the study of soil, enabling the kind of real-time soil health insight that can support sustainable land use on Earth.
