Marcelo Galdos
Research Technical Director
Dr Marcelo Galdos is joining the Earth Rover Program as Research Technical Director. He has nearly 30 years of experience in sustainable agricultural systems, combining deep expertise in soil science, environmental biogeochemistry and climate-smart agriculture with hands-on leadership of large interdisciplinary programmes across academia, public research institutes and industry.
Marcelo uses crop, soil and climate monitoring and modelling alongside novel sensors, digital soil mapping, Earth Observation and AI to assess how land use and agricultural management affect soil health, soil carbon dynamics, greenhouse gas fluxes and crop yields. He has held research positions at Rothamsted Research and the Universities of Nottingham and Leeds, and has led projects in Europe, Africa and Latin America.
He is an Oxford Farming Conference Emerging Leader, a Fellow of the British Society of Soil Science, and a UK Met Office Fellow in Climate Impacts. At ERP, Marcelo will lead the scientific and technical research agenda, helping to build the global evidence base for soil health through seismic imaging, process-based modelling and AI.
